Maintenance

A Maison Kardinal piece is made to last. But each material has its own care instructions.

Tungsten Carbide

Tungsten is impervious to water, soap, and perspiration. You can wear your tungsten ring in the shower and during sports without risk. Only avoid violent impacts against hard metallic objects: tungsten is very hard, but brittle, and a significant blow can crack it.

Cleaning: soft cloth, lukewarm soapy water if needed. No abrasive products.

18K Rose Gold

Rose gold is soft. Avoid chlorine (pool, bleach) which can tarnish it, and remove the piece for intense sports. Once a month, wash it in lukewarm soapy water with a soft toothbrush, then wipe with a soft cloth.

Bourbon Barrel Wood

The wood is resin-stabilized, therefore protected. But avoid prolonged immersion (long showers, swimming pools) and thermal shocks. About once a year, you can wipe the wood with an oiled cloth (neutral vegetable oil like flaxseed) to revive its color.

Gibeon Meteorite

The iron-nickel is treated with an anti-oxidant during manufacturing. Avoid prolonged exposure to salt water, acidic perspiration, or household products. After each intense wear, wipe the inlay with a soft, dry cloth.

Precious Opal (Galaxy)

Opal is the most fragile material in the collection. No showering, no swimming, no chemical products. Avoid shocks and temperature variations (no sauna, no cold sports followed by immediate heating). Store the piece in its case when you are not wearing it.

Carbon Fiber

Impervious to water, common products, and UV rays. No particular maintenance required. A soft cloth is sufficient.

24K Gold Leaf (Alchemist)

The gold is suspended in clear resin, therefore protected. Avoid strong impacts that could crack the resin. For the rest, treat the piece like a standard tungsten ring.

Damascus Steel

Damascus steel is surface-protected by an acid-etched layer that hardens the pattern. Nevertheless, avoid prolonged exposure to salt water (sea) which can cause long-term oxidation. Soft cloth after each wear. To revive the darkness of the pattern, a mineral oil treatment every two or three years is recommended.

925 Sterling Silver Black Matte Plating (The Seal)

The black PVD plating is resistant but can wear down in the very long term at friction points (inside of the ring, edge of the plate). Avoid repeated rubbing against hard surfaces. Cleaning: soft cloth. No polishing paste, which erodes the plating.
